Ubisoft Giving Away Underrated Assassin’s Creed Game for Free

Published

By

For a limited time, Ubisoft is giving away free digital copies of one of the most underrated Assassin’s Creed titles in the franchise’s history.

Ubisoft is hosting a giveaway where gamers can get a free PC copy of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate until December 6. The action-adventure game was released back in 2015 and brought with it several changes from previous entries, such as a new traveling system, the rope launcher, and improved stealth mechanics. Syndicate was also the last game to feature the traditional formula that defined the series before switching to the new RPG-like genre of the Ancient trilogy: OriginsOdyssey, and Valhalla.

The game follows the adventures of Jacob and Evie Frye, twin assassins who were raised in the Brotherhood and have arrived in Victorian London in order to liberate it from the control of the secret organization, the Templars. Together, the siblings fight to unite the underworld of London with their allies and notable historical figures such as the famed inventor Alexander Graham Bell, novelist Charles Dickens, and the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.

The company recently announced that it is offering digital copies of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for free on PC to anyone with a Ubisoft account, but fans will have to use the Connect Launcher in order to access it. Ubisoft announced the giveaway on Twitter with a reminder that fans only have until December 6 to redeem Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. Currently, the game retails for $29.99 on the company’s digital storefront, while members of Ubisoft+, the company’s gaming subscription service that is available on PC, Xbox consoles, and Luna, can gain access to the title, among others, for $14.99 a month.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate had a rough launch, with Ubisoft at the time blaming Assassin’s Creed Unity for the low sales numbers during the first week. However, burnout from fans and multiple entries being released in quick succession also played a role.

While Syndicate’s launch was relatively glitch-free, there were some glaring issues later on, such as the flickering problem found when playing a PS4 copy on the PlayStation 5, making the game virtually unplayable for some fans. However, earlier this year, Ubisoft issued Title Update 1.53 targeting the issue. Before this patch, the last update was released in 2017 to improve stability.

Now, seven years later, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is considered one of the most underrated titles in the series with it having some of the most engaging combat and grounded stories. With Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in its best state, gamers craving more of the classic formula after Mirage can step into the foggy world of industrial London to continue their adventures.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Stat Proves Its Been a Huge Success

Published

Despite a contentious pre and post-launch period, one stat proves Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a massive success for Activision.

Regardless of any setbacks the game has suffered to this point, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is absolutely crushing it in terms of player hours. The stats back up, that despite some negative headlines surrounding the shooter, players are still racking up some record hours in the game. Even poor previews weren’t enough to keep sales numbers down, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has even broken player engagement records for the reboot trilogy.

To say that Modern Warfare 3 has had its ups and downs is perhaps understating things a bit. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign disappointed players out of the gate thanks to a brief, five-hour long (on average) story. The backlash even led to players accidentally review-bombing the 2011 version of the game. Still, it appears as though things have smoothed over as the online multiplayer has largely been a success.

The franchise’s official social media account shared that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 “players racked up the most hours per player for a new premium Call of Duty release during the holiday weekend since 2019.” Notably, the premium release in 2019 was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – the first entry in the new trilogy. Call of Dutys social media account calls for fans to beat the record as it gets set to add the ever-popular map, Shipment, to the playlists on Thursday, November 30.

Developer Sledgehammer Games recently confirmed the fan-favorite map will return to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but the latest announcement gives fans a specific date to look forward to. With player numbers currently going strong, the return of Shipment looks to continue the momentum for Modern Warfare 3.

While the annual release cycle for the Call of Duty franchise remains controversial, it doesn’t appear to be hurting sales or player engagement. Sure, some fans have been vocal about various aspects of the game being disappointing in various regards, but Modern Warfare 3 appears to be a success by most metrics. Still, even those disappointed by this year’s entry have reason to look forward to the next.

Call of Dutys 2024 entry already has one advantage over Modern Warfare 3 – it’s been in development for more than twice as long as the most recent release. Even with some missteps here and there, Modern Warfare 3 has proven to be a success. And while no Call of Duty entry is ever likely to make every fan happy, the next title certainly has the chance to right some of the wrongs that have rubbed players the wrong way.

With a special event allowing players to catch up on 2023’s Community Days, Niantic is already preparing for the future of the game’s monthly events. Pokemon GO recently revealed its Community Day schedule for Season 13, with two dates coming in January alongside another Community Day on February 4. Rumors have already begun to swirl about January’s first Community Day, suggesting Vanillite may be the first Community Day Pokemon of 2024. With multiple Community Days on the horizon, Pokemon GO fans should have plenty of chances to pick up their favorite creatures.
